From 1909 until 1942 he had twenty-four appearances at the Bunten and the Teiten shows, which very much reflects his popularity. He was skillfull follower of his teacher Takeuchi Seihô (1864-1942), which earned him the nickname "the Seihô of Suma". Getsujô lived in Suma after 1925.
