Travellers 26. Autumn landscape 27. Winter landscape 28. Colophon Tanomura Shôsai was born in what is now Hyôgo prefecture. He lived in Edo where he studied with Haruki Nanmei. After the Meiji Restoration, he went to Kyoto to study with Tanomura Chokunyu (1814-1907). He was later adopted by his teacher. Shôsai also excelled in the martial arts and was trained by Oka Hanshu.
