When he was twenty years old, he was forced to join the army and fight the Russians. In 1914 he went to the Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Temple in Kyoto, where he became a pupil of Dokuzan Gengi (1869-1938). He became a priest and succeeded Dokuzan in 1922 as the head abbot of the Kinkaku-ji. Keijû was a gifted calligrapher. Reference: Armbruster pp. 87-90 Price: SOLD | |
